Maggie Cowan talks CBD for Pickleball
I love playing Pickleball! Everything about Pickleball, I adore.
Not only do I play several times a week, but on a few occasions, I play several times a day. Playing so much Pickleball can give your muscles an absolute workout! Normally, I don’t feel any discomfort or soreness until the day after. In the past, it would be automatic to pop a Motrin. After doing a little research on the after-effects of Motrin, I began to look for safer, more natural alternatives.
The benefits of CBD are being documented again and again! There are a plethora of scientific findings and evidence that support cancer patients using CBD oil to “fight nausea, acting as a sleep aid for people with insomnia, reducing seizures in children with a severe form of epilepsy known as Dravet Syndrome, as well as help improve pain and mobility in patients with multiple sclerosis.”
But what does this mean for athletes? Namely, Pickleball players?
The thought of easing muscle soreness with over-the-counter Ibuprofen or even prescription Motrin among others, on a long-term basis, is not an option.
According to an article on the benefits of CBD oil in Men’s Health, author Stacey Leasca writes that CBD oil helped athletes “reduce inflammation in the body.”
This is music to a Pickleball player’s ear!
MidlandHealth.com explains further, “The endocannabinoid system is a specialized system in the human body that aids in the regulation of sleep, appetite, the immune system and pain response. These naturally produced endocannabinoids are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the body’s nervous system. CBD can help to reduce chronic pain by impacting this receptor activity, thus reducing inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters.”
Pain management programs across the globe are now including CBD oil in their regiments.
Furthermore, CBD oil comes in good-tasting tinctures, gummies, topicals oils and lotions, soaps, balms, and is readily available. Having such an assortment of natural care gives the leeway to design a recovery regime that is personalized to your needs. Reducing inflammation, easing muscle soreness, and being able to ease pain may all be beneficial to faster, safer recovery so your Pickleball game can stay active and forefront.
I like to use a CBD tincture after a day of playing Pickleball. I love that it is easy to digest and the soothing effects are outstanding! I am adding CBD oil along with proper stretching, to get full relief of my sore muscles and occasional leg cramps without the side effects of some over-the-counter and prescription medicines.
Also, CBD oil is not habit-forming so I can regulate how much or less I need for my own pain management. I have friends who prefer the CBD gummies while others love CBD oil-enriched skin balms and lotions.
