Top 5 Myths About CBD Products Busted

As CBD and other cannabinoid based products become more mainstream, the misconceptions surrounding the use of these products also seem to grow. Although we at Medicileaf, do our best to create educational content around these topics, there are still a few myths that we routinely see making rounds on the internet. We feel these myths can be devastating for people that may actually benefit from the use of cannabinoid products which is why in this post we will debunk some of the most commonly prevailing myths about CBD products.

1.Cannabinoid Products are Psychoactive and will make you High

There are over 100 different varieties of cannabinoids found naturally in hemp. Only one of these, namely, THC contains psychoactive elements that will make you high. By law, all cannabinoid products must not contain more than 0.3% THC which makes it negligible in terms of its psychoactive effects. Advances in clinical research around cannabinoids have brought to light the numerous health benefits of cannabinoids other than THC, such as CBD, CBDA, CBG, CBN among others. These are non-psychoactive cannabinoids that contain nothing but therapeutic benefits without the risk of getting high.

2.CBD is a Scam

While clinical research on the health benefits of cannabinoids is still in its infancy, there is no  denying the fact that there are active ingredients present within cannabinoids that have the power to affect your body. The FDA’s latest approval of Epidiolex is a further testament to the fact that clinical research is picking up to the level where it is slowly but surely gaining widespread approval, even from the FDA.

The fact of the matter is that you body actually produces its own cannabinoids as well. These cannabinoids help to regulate your emotional and physical health as they interact with your body’s Endocannabinoid system. Similarly, when you take additional CBD or cannabinoids through our products, they interact with the endocannabinoid system which is how they create that positive impact on your body.

Some shoddy CBD brands may be a scam, but with today’s clinical research and anecdotal evidence, there can be no doubt in the actual efficacy of CBD and other naturally occurring cannabinoids.

3.CBD Products are Addictive

Nothing could be further from the truth. Since all cannabinoids except THC are not psychoactive, there is absolutely no risk of getting addicted to your cannabinoid based products. It is true that regular marijuana use can create dependency and lead to addiction. However, with CBD products you have no cause for this concern. It is still possible for CBD products to trigger a positive on your drug test (although unlikely) due to the small traces of THC present in these products but addiction is not something you need to worry about when taking advantage of any of these products like CBD oil, CBDA Tincture or multi-cannabinoid creams for your health and wellness.

4.CBD Products Can be Harmful for Your Health

The wrong kind of CBD products, purchased from an unknown brand with no third-party testing or any kind of credibility can surely lead to disaster. This is why it is extremely important for you to research the brand, look for all the trust signals and authenticity before you buy and try. This is not to say that you cannot at times feel some side effects from CBD products. This is true for all kinds of products you consume, even vitamins and mineral supplements. Anything can become toxic in high doses which is why it is important to follow the directions and dosage recommendations from the brand or your doctor so that you can avoid any unwanted side effects. There is little scientific research to identify any known side effects of CBD or other cannabinoids other than the fact that it can be dangerous if consumed in extremely high quantities. The only other precaution you need to take is to consult your doctor for any known reactions to any medications that you might be taking. Once you have these safeguards in place, you should not expect any harmful side effects from using cannabinoid products.

5.All CBD Products are the Same

Such blanket statements often fall flat because they display a lack of education and understanding around cannabinoids. Not all CBD products are created equal. First and foremost, the quality of the hemp plants from which these cannabinoids are extracted makes a big impact on the quality of the product. Products created from organically grown premium grade hemp will work much better than those created from ordinary hemp. Similarly, the extraction processes and the purity of the cannabinoids also impact the effectiveness of the product. Each brand also has its own distinct formulations where cbd is mixed with other naturally occurring cannabinoids, terpenes, herbs and other ingredients to create powerful products. This brings about a great degree of variation between products. Furthermore, brands like Medicileaf have progressed to a level where we identify different cannabinoids for specific health needs and build products around them. For example, we have a CBN based Night Cap that serves as a sleep aid and a CBG based salve that helps provide relief from aches and pains. These products are drastically different from each other and meant to help you with different health needs. Hence proving that no two cannabinoid products can be the same, even if they contain similar ingredients.
